Wildebeest crossing the Mara River during the Great Migration

Nature's greatest
show on Earth —
with a front-row seat.

The Great Migration is not just a wildlife event — it is the heartbeat of the African savanna. Every year, over 1.5 million wildebeest, 200,000 zebras, and 300,000 gazelles follow an ancient instinct across the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem, braving crocodile-filled rivers in a cycle of life and death that has played out for millennia.

This 7-day odyssey puts you in the heart of it all. From Nairobi's energy to the vast cathedral of the Maasai Mara, every day brings a new layer of wonder — guided by expert Maasai naturalists who have tracked these plains their entire lives.

Choose your season.
Choose your style.

Prices vary by season and accommodation tier. Peak Migration (July–October) commands a premium because availability is scarce and the spectacle is at its most intense. Green Season offers outstanding value — resident wildlife is exceptional year-round.

From $3,000
Governors' Il Moran · Entumoto Safari · Kichwa Tembo
✓Comfortable lodge or tented camp
✓Shared game drive 4×4 vehicle
✓All meals & standard drinks
✓Return Nairobi ↔ Mara bush flights
✓Expert Maasai guide
✓Park & conservancy fees
✓30–40% lower rates than peak season
Green Season (November–May): Resident wildlife is phenomenal year-round — lions, elephants, cheetahs, and leopards don't migrate. The landscape turns lush and photographic with dramatic skies. Wildebeest calving season (Jan–Feb) in the Serengeti attracts predators to the Mara. Rates are typically 30–40% lower than peak and availability is easier. Ideal for value-conscious luxury travellers.
Mid-Range · Shoulder Season
Migration Explorer
Per person (sharing)
From $3,500
Governors' Il Moran · Entumoto Safari · Entim Mara
✓Comfortable lodge or tented camp
✓Shared game drive vehicle
✓All meals & standard drinks
✓Return Nairobi ↔ Mara bush flights
✓Expert Maasai guide & park fees
✓Good chance of early migration herds
Shoulder Season (June & November): June marks the start of the dry season — herds begin moving north and the grass is short, making game viewing superb. November sees the first rains return the Mara to green. Both months offer fewer crowds than peak season with excellent wildlife. A smart choice for experienced safari travellers who prioritise quality over spectacle timing.

✓Expert Maasai guide & all park fees
✓Front-row access to river crossings
Peak Migration Season (July–October): This is when the Mara becomes the stage for Earth's greatest wildlife spectacle. River crossings, predator action, and sheer scale of the herds are at maximum. Book 6–9 months in advance — top-tier camps like Mahali Mzuri, andBeyond Bateleur, and Mara Plains sell out completely. Single-supplement and school-holiday surcharges may apply.

Voices from the wild.

★★★★★

"We watched 400 wildebeest plunge into the Mara River while crocodiles circled below. I have travelled to 60 countries — nothing has ever come close to that moment. Wildspace made it feel intimate, not like a tourist circus."

"The campfire storytelling on Night 3 with our Maasai guide Moses was worth the entire trip alone. He described the migration through his grandfather's eyes. I cried. We all did."

"We went for our honeymoon. The private vehicle in peak season was the best money we ever spent — we stayed at a crossing for 3 hours while other vehicles had to leave. Pure, uninterrupted magic."
